BJP cadres are planning to roll out the red carpet for party president Amit Shah who will be filing his Lok Sabha poll nomination from Gandhinagar on March 30. The date, 'Vijay Muhurt', was chosen carefully, as it's considered an auspicious day that maximises chances of victory.

The party has planned a grand roadshow to mark the party national president's maiden Lok Sabha election, especially since he has chosen the prestigious Gandhinagar seat of his native Gujarat.

Pruthviraj Patel, BJP in-charge for Gandhinagar, said, "There will be a grand roadshow from Naranpur, where Amitbhai had contested Assembly polls in 2012. It will pass through the various areas that fall under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. BJP cadres in the city are very enthusiastic, and we are all determined to ensure he wins by a record breaking margin."

The roadshow will feature a variety of elements, like dances and musical performances. Shah will ride in an open vehicle, while a special floral shower will also be arranged. "Thousands of people and BJP workers would participate in the roadshow to welcome Amitbhai at different locations. In Gandhinagar, over 25,000 people would welcome him when he reaches the collector's office to file his nomination," Patel added.

Earlier in the day, special plans have also been made for Amit Shah when he arrives at Ahmedabad airport. Shah will arrive in the city on March 29, and all party leaders and workers from Ahmedabad are expected to welcome him here.

Shah was named BJP's candidate from Gandhinagar last week, replacing senior BJP leader and current MP LK Advani, who has won Gandhinagar five straight times.
