DCP Usha Rada’s husband Naresh Desai alongwith members of the Rabari community on Monday submitted a memorandum to the additional district collector Mehul Dave. They also wore a black ribbon on their arms to register their protest against city-based lawyer RR Shukla.
On Sunday, Desai had lodged a complaint with the cybercrime cell alleging that his Facebook account was hacked and their honeymoon photos made public, which later went viral. The memorandum stated that the act was a part of a larger conspiracy by Shukla against the women of Rabari community. The memorandum read, “I am a British Citizen and married Usha on May 22. We had gone to Malaysia for honeymoon and returned on Saturday...Before our arrival in India, Shukla had organised a press conference with an intention to defame my wife and affect her job.”
Shukla had submitted an application to city police commissioner and chief secretary stating ‘Rada should not have posted such photos on a public platform to maintain the dignity of her post’ and demanded departmental inquiry against her, Desai alleged. When contacted, Shukla said, “I respect the community. What I have done is as per the law, which will take its own course.” Leader of the community Valji Rabari said they will meet CM to demand justice. He even warned of a stir.
