Unconfirmed reports suggest that threat calls to Sanjay Joshi were made through PCO phones from two shops in Ahmedabad.

A team of Delhi crime branch is expected to arrive in Ahmedabad in two days to question two PCO operators about the threat calls that were made to former BJP leader Sanjay Joshi.

After the issue of threat calls was raised by Joshi through a letter to home minister P Chidambaram, some unconfirmed reports suggested that these calls were made from two shops —Mahendra Provision store in Devji pura, Madhavpura and another STD/PCO shop on Dudheshwar road. The provision store is owned by Mahendra Jain, while the PCO shop is owned by Rohit Thakkar.

Madhavpura police already questioned these two shop owners earlier on Tuesday. S G Parmar, senior inspector of Madhavpura police, called both Patel and Thakkar to the police station.

However, both claimed that they did not know who made the calls to Joshi, as hundreds of customers use the PCO coin box daily.
According to Parmar, it was not part of the formal investigation.

“We are not handed over any probe in the matter. I just saw some news channels showing the shop and PCO coin box, which might have been used for making the threat calls. To clear the doubt, I called the owner ,” said Parmar. Since the case involves a prominent political leader, officials of Delhi crime branch have also decided to question them.
