The blast also led to a major fire in the premises

At around 2.30 pm on Wednesday, a blast was reported from inside of the Dhrol Police station in Jamnagar in which one officer was grievously injured. The blast also led to a major fire in the premises. After the blast was reported, officials of Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) team also reached the site and is investigating the blast. It was later found that the blast originated in the evidence room and that one of the seized objects might be the source. Two teams of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) are also on-site.

The one injured officer, Harpalsingh, was immediately shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital and is reported to be recovering.

"It was the easiest thing to think that the transformer might have been the cause. But after fire was contained, we saw that it was not severely damaged like it might have been if it was the source of the blast," said a senior BDS official at the site.
