Gujarat Congress launches Jan Sampark Abhiyan for 2019 Lok Sabha polls

Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda kicked off the campaign in Ahmedabad after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary

The Gujarat Congress launched a Jan Sampark Abhiyan or public outreach campaign to reach out to citizens ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Opposition party said that it would go to people and talk about achievements of the Congress government, and failures of the BJP governments at the state and Centre.

Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda kicked off the campaign in Ahmedabad after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. He said his party would follow Gandhi's principles to fight for people.

Chavda began the campaign from Gheekanta in the city and interacted with a number of people.

Besides moblising public support, the party would also collect donation from citizens during the campaign, which will be undertaken in all 33 districts and eight municipal corporation areas till November 19.

Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said that a pamphlet highlighting the Centre's failure on inflation, lack of employment opportunities, groundnut procurement scam, Rafale jet deal controversy, and others were distributed among people.

Leader of opposition Paresh Dhanani launched the campaign in Rajkot.
