Gujarat Chief MInister Vijay Rupani

The UPA government meted out injustice to Gujarat for 10 years, first at the behest of Sonia Gandhi, and then through PM Manmohan Singh

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani claimed that it was a golden opportunity for the people of Gujarat to reelect the BJP in state again and continue with the fruits that the Prime Minister has given to it. He was referring to the party's win-win situation in the Centre and state. Rupani was speaking at Zee News' Game of Gujarat on Tuesday.

Speaking on the politics of development in Gujarat, Rupani said, "We have come up with slogans like Hu Vikas Chhu, Hu Gujarat chhu. Gujarat, development and Modi have become synonymous. The UPA government meted out injustice to Gujarat for 10 years, first at the behest of Sonia Gandhi, and then through PM Manmohan Singh. Now Gujarat's son Narendra Modi is the PM and he has been taking care of his state with much more love. This is a golden chance for people in Gujarat, as it will continue forever if they reelect the BJP in the state."

Speaking on Hardik Patel and the Congress' formula of reservation, Rupani said, ""Hardik has cheated the Patel community. He gave a bad shape to the reservation issue by joining hands with the Congress. He is exposed now as he supported the Congress for a formula on reservation, which is not feasible. Hardik and Alpesh Thakor are agents of the Congress. Alpesh is contesting the polls as a Congress candidate and Hardik has arranged for a ticket from them for his friends."

Rupani also expressed his views on being the successor of a CM like Narendra Modi and the expectations of people. He said, "Being his successor was never a challenge for me. In fact, he set the system in such a way that Gujarat became a policy-driven state. This system was for everyone's development. The people of Gujarat have given priority to value and ethics based politics.

We are far ahead of the Congress. When Modiji was CM, Gujarat gave 121 seats to the BJP and now he is PM, so it should be more than 150 this time."

Rupani also said that the BJP is committed to the principal of nationalism and Congress always played 'sadak chhap' politics. He said, "We never favoured appeasement to any special class while Congress did this to garner votes in every polls."

Speaking about GST and demonetisation woes on Gujarati businessmen, the CM said, "After GST, many businessmen would come to meet me, but never opposed the move. They had several concerns over some issues like the network, return filing and others, but they are happy now after the reforms. People in UP, and many other states, including Gujarat, gave their mandate to the BJP during the panchayal polls. This shows that people have faith in Narendra Modi, who is fighting against the nemesis called black money. Congress never showed any interest in fighting it."

Rupani, however, was sceptical about his reappointment as CM in Gujarat. He said, "The BJP high command has the power to decide on the CM. When I took oath as CM of the state, I did not think of it the day before."

Rupani blames cong

The CM said that Gujarat, development and Modi have become synonymous. He blamed the Congress for grave injustice meted out to the state when it was in power in the Centre.
