Gujarat Elections 2017: Policemen make a beeline to exercise their franchise

Cops can cast their votes here from December 4 to 6, between 9 am and 6 pm

Special arrangement has been made by the Election Commission to ensure that police personnel are able to cast their votes.

On Monday, senior police officials, State Reserve Police staff and others were seen standing in a queue to cast their vote for the Assembly polls.

On the first day of voting, around 3,500 cops visited the the police headquarters in Shahibaug to vote for 2017 Assembly elections.

Cops can cast their votes here from December 4 to 6, between 9 am and 6 pm. Around 13,500 cops ranging from senior officers to constable level are expected to participate. As many as 10,500 are from Ahmedabad City police department, while 2,000 are from Ahmedabad Rural police.

Many of the rural police personnel were sent back by the authorities and were asked to come back on Tuesday, as voting for rural police department will start from Tuesday.

At the headquarters in Shahibaug, 21 special booths have been made in which the voting happens. Within the two days, the remaining 10,000 police staff voting will be done.
