The newly appointed cabinet minister Jawahar Chavda used offensive words for journalists at a party gathering held on Friday night in his constituency Manavadar. The video clip of Chavda abusing journalist went viral on social media and the journalists in Gujarat took serious note of the same and condemned the minister.

In the video clip, Javahar was found saying, "Many journalists ask me today also that why I defected to BJP and what objection I had against Congress. I say them, 'Your father'(himself) had no issue or objection against anyone. The Congress party has always given me respect and therefore I was there for three decades. I had no grudge there and if there was any grudge, 'your father' would not forget it."

The journalists started trolling Chavda on social media and registered objection against the minister for using demeaning words for them. They also sought an apology from Chavda.

The Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi reacting on Chavda's comment said, "Chavda has become arrogant in the intoxicating effect of the power after he was made the minister. His voice has become hoarse after joining BJP."

Chavda, however, offered an apology and gave an explanation on his words. He said, "There was no intention to hurt anyone with my words. What I spoke was as per the flavour of the local dialect of Saurashtra and I spoke in a flow when I was speaking at the party gathering in Manavadar. It was not intended, but even if anyone is hurt due to my words, I seek apology of them."
