Gujarat to see 21% rise in emergencies on Uttarayan

The 108 emergency service is expecting a 21% and 19% estimated hike in emergencies during Uttarayan and the day after the festival in the state. It should be noted that in Gujarat, Uttarayan celebration extends upto two days. The 21% rise in emergencies on January 14 is similar to the rise that was seen in 2018 while the emergencies on January 15 is lower than the 23% hike the service saw in 2018. It should be noted that on an average the service sees 3071 cases of emergencies against which the emergencies are expected to shoot to 3730 on the day of Uttarayan and 3659 the next day.

Interestingly, of the total number of emergencies it is those resulting from assault that will see a substantial rise in terms of percentage.

The service is expecting a 281% rise in assault cases followed by 167% rise in non vehicular trauma.

Ahmedabad is likely to see a 30% and 34% rise in emergencies compared to normal days on the two days of Uttarayan. The city is expected to see 643 case on January 14 and 659 on January 15.

The highest peak in emergencies in percentage terms is expected in Anand and Aravali which is likely to see a 45% surge in emergencies while the service expects the number of emergencies to go down in Banaskantha. In fact the emergencies are likely to fall by 14% compared to normal days in the district.

As per service's estimation, the highest number of emergencies are likely to be reported from 3 pm to 7pm.
