IIT Gandhinagar to host special programme for heads of engineering colleges of Gujarat

The programme uses international best practices for active and participatory learning methodology for young adults

In a first, the Indian Institute Technology, Gandhinagar, will host a special programme for the heads of engineering colleges of Gujarat. The programme called 'Finding the Leader in you' aims to internalise, practice and inculcate the big five non-cognitive (soft) skills among young leaders in academics. These skills improve performance in class and in workplace. The programme uses international best practices for active and participatory learning methodology for young adults. It will be conducted by the facilitators from the US.

The programme to be held on January 12 will facilitate creation of jobs in face of rapidly globalizing economy and empowers young people to become effective leaders in any of their pursuits; be it in business, academia, research or with the government. These five big non-cognitive skills were identified as a result of a major nationwide study in India in 2015-16, under the aegis of the Competitiveness Mindset Initiative of IITGn and Bankworld Inc, USA.

Heads of engineering colleges of Gujarat will attend this one-day programme at IITGn which nurtures creativity, innovation, perseverance, ability to take initiative and a high level of conscientiousness so that the Indian youth can change their mindset and reach their maximum potential. These skills improve performance in class and in workplace.

The results of this highly interactive programme were so profound that this programme is planned to be offered to all the 150 engineering colleges of Gujarat.
