While some workers have returned home safe from the cement factory near Sumbe in Angola, many Indian workers are still stranded and facing threats from the company officials. On the other hand, Gujarati workers who returned from Angola visited families of their colleagues at Vadodara.

Vijay Valmik, who returned from Sumbe on Saturday, met the family members of two other fellow Gujarati workers, Jignesh Prajapati and Aashish Maheshwari, in Vadodara on Monday.

"I met the family members of both my friends. They are very much worried for their wards in Angola. I have assured their kin that we will try our level best to bring them back from Angola," he said.

Talking to DNA from Sumbe, Alpesh Patel gave an update about the present situation at the site of the cement plant. "Situation here has not improved much. They are providing us food, but are also forcing us to resume work. We are told that if we would not join work from Tuesday, they will stop providing us food. We have already put in our papers and do not want to work here," he asserted.

Further stating that these stranded people want to come back to the country, Patel said they haven't received any help from the Indian government. Officers from the Indian embassy had visited the site and assured us that they will be taking care of our return, but nothing has been done so far. Help us return to India," he pleaded over phone.
