The Graduate Summer School initiative has been introduced this year

In a first, MBA students studying in various colleges across the country can experience life at premier B-school the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Under the Graduate Summer School (GSS) initiative introduced this year and conceptualized by the doctoral student community of IIMA, a total of 60 interested students from across the country will be allowed to stay on campus for five days and undergo training on concepts that would help their careers.

This year, the GSS will be held from April 2-6 and will include sessions by IIMA faculty, entrepreneurs and other industry practitioners.

Professor Vishal Gupta, faculty coordinator, GSS 2018 said, “GSS is an initiative where we would like to provide graduate MBA students in colleges across India an opportunity to experience academic life at an IIM. We would like to provide participants training in special topics such as entrepreneurship, working in teams, data analysis, conducting survey studies, etc. We hope this would broaden their perspectives about management and motivate them to aim higher in their academic, professional and personal lives.”

GSS, a student-driven initiative, aims to hone management acumen of students through IIMA’s pedagogy— case methods, team building and entrepreneurship.

Chayasmita Deka, student coordinator of IIMA summer school said, “GSS will also be a great platform for students across the country to network and exchange knowledge and ideas. Not many students opt for doctoral programmes after their postgraduate. So we thought of helping such students. They will also get a flavour of IIMA’s methodology towards applying theory of management in practice and how we experience rigorous study methods. The registration is currently open.”
