The increasing number of missing kids reported in Ahmedabad city is creating panic behaviour among people. So much so that they don't even think twice before attacking innocent people   suspecting them of trying to kidnap their children.

After similar incidents in Vatva and Bapunagar on Monday, one more woman was beaten up in Juhapura on Tuesday after she was seen talking to a local boy. The woman was identified Laxmi Devipujak who had come to the area to collect dues from Mohammad Hanif Shaikh, a building contractor. A resident of Kheda, she works as a daily labourer at Shaikh's construction site.

On Tuesday, Laxmi came to Shaikh's Hussaini Park residence to collect Rs200 from him. She had forgotten the lane where he resides and thus asked one Samir Shaikh (12) who was playing nearby. However, some local women spotted her talking to the boy and thought that Laxmi was trying to kidnap Samir. They immediately lunged for her and started thrashing her. Other residents soon joined in. However, one Ramzan Sandhi intervened and stopped the crowd. He called Vejalpur police and took her to the police station.

Cops confirmed that Laxmi was innocent. Shaikh registered his statement to prove her real identity.
