This textile city will have an international standard football stadium with a capacity pf 20,000 in the near future. This follows the Public-Private Partnership entered into by the Gujarat Government with SE TransStadia under the Gujarat Infrastructure Act 1999 and Amendment Act, 2006, a media release stated on Thursday.
The sports arena, spread over nine acres of land, is to not only house the stadium, but also a multi-utility facility for eight academies that can be used for 16 different sports. The eight academies include the sports disciplines of football, basketball, tennis, squash, volleyball, table tennis, swimming and air pistol/rifle shooting, the release said. It would also be home to key facilities like gymnasium, sports medicine, high performance centre and leisure activities.
The project would comprise of two parts – the first being the sports infrastructure facility which will constitute to 72 per cent of the total built-up area of the project. The second component would be the hospitality and other retail and commercial facilities to help generate revenue to maintain the facility and keep the project viable, the release added.
