In yet another attempt of becoming a passenger friendly airport, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport has installed a Flight Information Display System (FIDS) which can be viewed from a greater distance.
The airport authorities have installed two video walls, one in the arrival bay and one in the departure bay, which will give flight related information in three languages.
Confirming the same, Manoj Gangal, Airport Director said, "People coming to drop their folks or coming in a cab will now be able to view their flight status from their vehicle itself. Often passengers had to come near the terminal too see the flight status on the screen as it was not visible.
Interestingly, we have also added Gujarati as a language in which the flight information will be displayed. This will ensure that no one misses their flight in dire consequences. This is in a way inching towards making the airport a silent airport."
The authorities also have plans to install a similar system in the BRTS buses that is used to ferry passengers.
