Surtis will soon get an opportunity to get a glimpse of their dear Sanjeev Kumar’s life. The valuable artefacts related to legendary star and his trophies will be donated to Surat, the late actor’s home town, by his nephew Uday Jariwala.

Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will keep the actor’s memorabilia at a new auditorium being developed at Pal. The hall, scheduled to be inaugurated later this year, has been named as Sanjeev Kumar Auditorium.

SMC’s plan to give the auditorium a Sanjeev Kumar touch was materialised  after the Mumbai-based Jariwala family contacted the civic body and expressed desire to donate the actor’s memorabilia.

Besides paintings, SMC will get trophies won by the actor, including two National awards and as many Filmfare awards. “We want people visiting the auditorium to know about Sanjeev Kumar and his contribution into Indian film industry. Our sole aim is that Surtis remember Sanjeev Kumar,” said Jariwala. He added that family will also prepare documentary on Sanjeev Kumar. Uday himself has scripted documentary, which will be directed by Aparajita Shishu.

The Jariwala family is also planning to launch an award named after the late actor. The announcement in this regard will be made shortly.
