Three labourers die in Ahmedabad wall collapse

Three people were killed when a portion of a private construction site located at Nikol Ring Road area collapsed on Wednesday. The incident took place around 3 pm; about four labourers were trapped inside the Kalp Business Park site located opposite Palm Hotel. Other labourers working at the site rushed to the spot and managed to pull out one of those trapped, but the other three were trapped deep inside the debris.

As per police, the labourers were working at the construction site, when a section of the dug wall crumbled and the labourers working there got trapped.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service (AFES) was called for help. Three fire vehicles were rushed to the spot and they started a rescue operation. The three other labourers were pulled out of the debris and rushed to Nikol Shalby hospital for treatment. All three were declared brought dead by doctors.

The deceased were identified as Bhimraj Rot, Subhash Bariya, and Jasvant Bariya. Odhav police station personnel also reached the spot and started an investigation. Primary probe revealed the mishap took place due to negligence of the builder.

A complaint has been lodged against five people, including the builder and his partners and further investigation is on.

R.G Jadeja, Inspector of Odhav police station, said, "We have lodged a complaint against five people including the builder in the matter and have started an investigation. No one has been arrested yet."
