DNA Special: Real reason behind Sidhu's resignation

You must have often heard Navjot Singh Sidhu saying 'Thokko Tali' on TV channels. But this time, by dismissing Captain Amarinder Singh from Punjab politics, Sidhu himself has got himself out hit wicket. He got the wicket of Captain Amarinder Singh but then could not even save his own wicket.

Sidhu today resigned from the post of Punjab Congress President. Even when Sidhu used to play cricket, in the year 1996, after a difference of opinion with his captain in the team, he left England in the middle of the tour and returned to India. Perhaps that is why Captain Amarinder Singh said about him that Sidhu is not a stable person. And today, Captain Amarinder Singh has once again reiterated his point.

Today, Amarinder came to Delhi and Congress once again ridiculed before Sidhu's hit wicket. So today, we will analyze Sidhu's hit-wicket and Congress's embarrassment.

So far, four leaders have resigned in support of Sidhu, including cabinet minister Razia Sultana.

Sidhu has written in his resignation that he cannot do the politics of compromise, so he is leaving the post of president. But we have come to know that Sidhu resigned because he was not running in the government even after changing the chief minister. He was most annoyed by the appointment of the new DGP and Advocate General of Punjab.

Actually, Sidhu wanted to make DS Patwalia the new Advocate General, but Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi appointed APS Deol, who is fighting the case of former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in the court. Saini is accused of killing two people in the violence that followed the sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib in 2015 while he was the DGP.

Now the dispute is on the fact that APS Deol became the Advocate General of Punjab but he could not appear on behalf of the government in this pending court case, due to which the dispute between Channi and Sidhu increased. And Sidhu also came to know that Channi is taking his own decisions.

We also learned that Sidhu was upset over the appointment of Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota as the new DGP of Punjab because even in his appointment, Channi did not consult Sidhu.

Another reason for the displeasure is the cabinet of the new government. Rana Gurjit Singh and Gurkeerat Singh Kotli have been made ministers in the new government, who are said to be supporters of Captain Amarinder Singh. Rana Gurjit Singh was also a minister in Captain's government, but in 2018, he had to resign in a corruption case. But Channi made him a minister again.

Channi also took the decision of division of portfolios among the ministers himself, which Sidhu was unhappy with. And when he felt that even after the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh, the remote control of the government was not in his hands, Sidhu resigned.

All those leaders are present in the meeting that is going on at Sidhu's house in Patiala, who had opposed the appointment of Rana Gurjit Singh and Gurkeerat Singh Kotli as ministers.

Overall, Sidhu wanted that the political field in Punjab should be set according to him. But the new Chief Minister of Punjab did all the field placement by himself and Sidhu did not have a chance to play. And in this effort, Sidhu was out Hit Wicket today.

Amidst this political turmoil, former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also reached Delhi today, where there were reports about him that he may meet BJP leaders and leave the Congress party. But Amarinder Singh said that he had come to collect his belongings from Kapurthala House in Delhi, which is the residence of the Chief Minister of Punjab in Delhi.

However, Chief Minister Channi has said that he has full faith in Sidhu and that he will resolve the dispute through talks.

Today Sukhbir Singh Badal's statement is also being discussed a lot, in which he had described Sidhu as such a misguided missile and said that no one has his control and he can hit anyone anywhere.

Overall, Sidhu has been like an unbridled missile from the beginning. When he used to play cricket, he did not listen to his captain in the team and wanted to become the captain himself. Then he tried his luck in TV channels as a commentator and in that too, he wanted to dominate the other commentators in every show. He used to talk big but his delivery was nothing. All this works on TV channels but in real life, you have to prove yourself, deliver, and Sidhu has failed miserably in this. 

After this, he came into politics and even there, he did not want to listen to his captain. First, he joined BJP and he started making fun of the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi. Sidhu was the one who popularized Rahul Gandhi as 'Pappu'. Then he joined Congress and he started making fun of BJP and PM Modi. After that, he started playing for the Pakistan team instead of India. His close relations with Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan President General Qamar Javed Bajwa were seen by all. When Captain Amarinder Singh objected to this, Sidhu revolted against him.
