A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Banashankari on Wednesday.

A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Banashankari on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Basavaraju, a resident of Kaverinagar in Banashankari.

He was found hanging at 7 pm, when his wife Chaya returned from her brother’s house after a four-day stay.

Chaya found the door was locked and opened it using a spare key, only to find her husband hanging.

She informed her parents and the police on phone. The police said preliminary investigation indicated that Basavaraju and his wife used to have frequent disputes for a couple of years and this might be the reason for the extreme step.

Basavaraju worked in a printing press in Jayanagar. 

On Wednesday, he left for home after work at 5.30 pm and reached home at 6 pm, police said.

He was living with his wife and two daughters. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem.

Better dead than poor
In another incident, a carpenter allegedly committed suicide in his house on KG Halli Main Road on Wednesday. The deceased, Subodh, 24, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had come to the city two years ago.

Subodh’s financial situation was not good and he was also burdened by the responsibility of taking care of his family members. He was found hanging about 7 pm, when his roommates returned from work. They informed the police and the body was shifted to Dr BR Ambedkar Hospital. The police are waiting for Subodh’s family members’ arrival for the postmortem.

BHEL employee commits suicide
BS Srinivas, a 48-year-old man working with BHEL, allegedly committed suicide in his house at BHEL Township Quarters in Malleswaram in the wee hours of Thursday.

The police said he might have committed suicide because of illness.

Srinivas ended his life by hanging in the hall of his house at 3am, when his wife and children were sleeping.

The incident came to light when his wife woke up early in the morning.

She informed the police about the incident. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.

Srinivas left behind a suicide note. He did not mention the reason for his extreme act, but stated that he was responsible for the extreme step.

The police said he was an alcoholic and was undergoing therapy.
Later, he suffered from various health problems and this could be a reason for his decision to end his life, added the police.
