Adventure buffs from Bangalore have made a beeline to take part in adventure sports organised in Mysore on account of Dasara. For the first time, the adventure enthusiasts will get the hang of climbing artificial walls, zipline, zorbing, cycle polo, dirt tracking, quad biking, motor treasure hunt and aquatic sport events, organised at Varuna aqua sports centre.

Sports such as kayaking, speed boat rides and jet ski rides were launched at sports centre on Wednesday. “There were thousands of aqua sports and adventure sport enthusiasts in the state but we got only a fraction of them. The numbers were not enough to carry on the adventure sports on a perennial basis. However, we do get a few enthusiasts for aqua sports during the Dasara time,” said mayor of Mysore City Corporation, MC Rajeshwari Puttaswamy.

The Mysore City Corporation will definitely support any tourism-related development and said she would ask the district in charge minister SA Ramadas to impress upon the government the need of creating a permanent aqua tourism infrastructure in Mysore.

Speaking to DNA on the sidelines of the inauguration of the aqua sport event, Ramadas said the department of youth sports has been sensitised to take up creation of infrastructure in addition to what we already have and spread awareness about it in cities like Bangalore through department of tourism so that adventure-loving youth can take up these activities. The adventure sport activities should be not limited just to the Dasara period, he said.
