Bangalore animal lovers find homes for 22 stray puppies

Many stray puppies on Sunday found their comfort zones and new homes after they were adopted. Brought in from various streets and corners of the city, they now form an integral part of the families they have been welcomed into. Families turned up in encouraging numbers to take home the pups that were brought under one roof at Sankey Tank Park at Malleswaram by an NGO — Lets Live together.

This weekend, Let’s Live Together, that works for the welfare of homeless animals had organised a grand adoption camp where 30 gorgeous, healthy puppies from the streets were brought for adoption. People came in huge numbers irrespective of the recent scare on the street dog bite cases.

“Being Indian is not enough; one must adopt a regular, Indian dog and take care of it. Stray pups deserve love and warmth. They are found on the streets because they have no where to go. We play the middleman by bringing the strays and their adopters together,” said the founder of the NGO, Achala Pani.

“These dogs are as adorable as any other breed. Let’s Live Together is focused on advocating adoption of Indian or mixed-breed puppies that are known to have strong immune systems and fur coats that are ideal for Indian climate,” added Pani.

The NGO conducts adoption camps on every first Sunday of the month. Ten volunteers associated with the organisation keep the puppies picked from the streets at their homes and feed them well. In case the pups need medical attention, they are taken to veterinarians before bringing them up for adoption.

Priya Shetty, student, said: “I look forward to bringing my relatives and friends to adopt these cute, furry friends.”
“The street puppies should be adopted,” ten-year-old Rahul Kumar enthusiastically said and turned to his mother, “When can I take my pup home?”
