Although the Rapid Action Force was withdrawn from the high court premises on Thursday, the Advocates’ Association of Bangalore wants full withdrawal of police forces from the city civil court and the high court.
KN Subba Reddy, president of the association, appeared before the division bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and requested him again for the total withdrawal of police forces from the high court.
The advocates’ fraternity is intimidated by the presence of the police and they feel it will not be a good environment to work with the police forces around, he said. If the force is fully withdrawn, advocates will withdraw their boycott, he said.
“We’re ready to withdraw the boycott. For the first time in the history of the Karnataka high court, members are scared to enter the high court due to so much police force deputed inside the court hall and other courts. We don’t want them,” Reddy said.
“We want a safe atmosphere where advocates can come in and function,” he said.
However, Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen asked him to withdraw the boycott and get back to work.
More advocates attended courts on Thursday and litigants gained confidence in entering the civil courts. However, the situation is yet to come back to normal at the city civil court.
