Bangalore man kills wife over suspicion, later sleeps next to her body

A man allegedly killed his 26-year-old wife over suspicion that she was involved in an extra-marital relationship. He later slept next to his dead wife’s body that night.

The incident took place in Gandhinagar, Yelahanka, in Bangalore on Tuesday night. The accused, Chand Pasha, 45, a worker in a handloom unit, killed his second wife Gulnaz Begum with a machete. Pasha claimed he killed Gulnaz as she tried to kill him.

Yelahanka police, however, said that Pasha slit his throat to mislead the investigation.

Pasha was arrested based on a complaint lodged by Gulnaz’s sister Mumtaz Begum. The incident came to light around 8am on Wednesday when Mumtaz went to meet Gulnaz.  She then informed the police, who arrested Pasha.

Pasha married Gulnaz nine years ago after separating from his first wife. The couple did not have any children. He suspected that Gulnaz was  in an extra-marital relationship. He had frequent arguments with Gulnaz.

Woman killed
A 40-year-old widow was found dead off Srinivasapur Road in Kittaganur village near KR Puram on Wednesday.

The incident came to light at 7.30 am. The deceased has been identified as Bharathi Reddy, a resident of Malur in Kolar district and an employee of Group Pharmaceutical in that town.

Police suspected murder, but postmortem indicated that she might have died in an accident. “We are investigating the case from both the angles. Her relatives told police that she did not had any rivalry or dispute with anybody,” said a senior police officer.

Bharathi came to the city a few days ago and stayed in her brother-in-law Nagaraj Reddy’s house in TC Palya near KR Puram. She performed a pooja at the grave of her husband on Mahalaya Amavasya.
