A shopowner was robbed of Rs4 lakh near Byatarayanapura police station when he was going towards his house on Tuesday night.

Ashok Kumar, 40, who owns a shop in Kumbarpet, put the day’s collection in his motorcycle’s carriage bag after closing the shop and left for his house. When he reached Mysore Road, a man on a motorcycle crashed into his two-wheeler. Kumar fell on the road. Another two-wheeler rider came to help him, even as the miscreant who hit his vehicle fled with the money bag.

Immediately, the rider who was ‘helping’ Kumar, too, made away on his motorcycle. Kumar told police that he cried for help but the road was deserted.

In another incident, three miscreants robbed a man on the pretext of giving him a drop in the wee hours of Wednesday near Hosakerehalli signal.

Shiva Kumar, 27, told Subramanyapura police that at 2.30am, he was waiting for a vehicle at Hosakerehalli Ring Road Circle. Upon seeing a motorcycle approaching him, he requested the rider to give him a drop. Although two people were riding pillion, the rider agreed to drop him. The rider told Kumar that the other two pillion riders would get down near Kadirenahalli fuel station.

However, when Kumar sat on the motorcycle, the rider took him near Doddagowdanapalya bus stand and stopped the motorcycle.

The trio threatened him at knifepoint and robbed him of two mobile phones and Rs5,000.

He did not note down the motorcycle’s registration number.
