A 35-year-old man was killed by his wife and mother-in-law in Garavebhavipalya on Sunday night.

The deceased, Rajappa, was a garment factory worker. His wife, Nandini, 30, and mother-in-law Sharadamma, 52, assaulted him with a log on Sunday.

Rajappa was an alcoholic and had frequent arguments with Nandini and  Sharadamma.

On Sunday night, Rajappa returned home drunk. An altercation with Nandini and Sharadamma ensued. The duo hit him with a log and killed him.

They disposed of the body near a sewage chamber on premises of the school in which they were staying. Later, they returned home.

The incident came to light when neighbours found the body. The police grew suspicious when they observed that Nandini and Sharadamma had injuries on their body. On interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime. Earlier, they had said Rajappa might have died after taking a fall in his inebriated state.
