Bengaluru: Speeding BMTC bus hits seven vehicles, injures seven

The driver and conductor of the bus escaped and the police have seized the bus.

On Monday morning, A speeding BMTC bus lost control and rammed into two cars, four autorickshaws and a bike on Monday morning, injuring seven people. The accident took place at the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station limits, reports a leading tabloid. The seven injured included two children.

The BMTC bus driver is reported to have lost control of the speeding bus near the BWSSB office on 50 Feet Road in Kumaraswamy Layout. The accident occurred around 11 am on Monday.

The injured people were rushed to hospitals nearby, states the report. A family of four was travelling in an auto and all four of them were injured. Three other people who were injured were just treated as out patients. 

The driver and conductor of the bus escaped and the police have seized the bus. They are have begun searching for the driver.

The BMTC reportedly told the police that the brakes on the bus had failed but the police claim that the brakes were fine. The accident resulted in a major traffic jam on the road for more than half an hour. 

Last week, two students were killed and one injured in Bengaluru in three separate incidents when speeding BMTC buses hit them.
