The Senior BJP Leaders’ Forum, on Tuesday, urged the party leadership to expel former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa from the party. Former party president BB Shivappa, who hails from the Veerashaiva community, said that Yeddyurappa has crossed all limits of tolerance and decency.
He has caused irreversible damage to the party, which was laboriously built by seniors like him, said Shivappa.
“Yeddyurappa is repeatedly humiliating the party and sending out a message that he is above the party. His involvement in cheap politics during the budget session was observed by the party’s central leadership and senior leaders. Repeated offensive gestures towards senior leaders have hurt us,” added Shivappa.
Anna Vinayachandra, a former MLC, said: “The party treated Yeddyurappa like its son and gave him many chances. But now, the time has come to throw the rogue son out.”
With these demands, BJP Senior Leaders’ Forum is going to New Delhi to meet the party’s leadership at the Centre. “The decision to expel him should be made as early as possible in the interest of the party. The party’s central leadership should assert itself and show that the BJP would not compromise on its principles and discipline,” said Shivappa.
