Mystery still remains regarding the driver of the empty BMTC bus that rammed into a shop at Vaishalli Circle, killing three. Though colleagues of the driver, Narayanaswamy, claimed that he was epileptic, the police are yet to confirm this.

Venkataswamy SD, inspector, Mico Layout traffic police, said, “There were allegations that Narayanaswamy was suffering from epilepsy. When we started our inquiry, every one told us to seek details from Narayanaswamy in person. He is still an in-patient and we are yet to get his statements recorded. This can be ascertained only after recording his statement.”

However, the officers from BMTC have refuted the claims and said it was not possible to employ an individual who was suffering from an ailment like epilepsy. SK Paramesh, technical director, BMTC, said, “We are yet to get the details of the driver, but we suspect this allegation of him being epileptic is not true. One has to be physically able to clear all the exams and get a job. We ask them to get physical fitness, medical certificate from a district surgeon. Before reacting, we are waiting for his present medical report.”

The empty BMTC bus was on its way to Kothanuru Dinne from the BMTC depot when it rammed into a shop at Vaishali Circle.

The conductor DT Ashwath, who was talking to the driver, Narayanaswamy lost his life.

Narayanaswamy was critically injured in the accident.

The police are waiting for the driver Narayanaswamy to recover, before coming to a conclusion in the case.
