The 10 padayatris who began their ‘Chalo Dilli’ mission from Bangalore’s Freedom Park reached Tumkur on Friday.On the way, six more people joined them to Delhi besides hundreds of supporters who followed them for little walks. “We’ve been inspired by people. Some ask us how we could think of undertaking such a long march,” said Ramesh Savanur, one of those leading the march for India against Corruption.“We started from Dobbespet on Thursday morning and walked almost 30 km from there to Tumkur. On the way, we met Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt who offered us food. He was very supportive. He even said he would pray for our success. He requested us to stay in any of the mutt schools on the way,” he said.In Tumkur, the marchers were set to interact with rural people on Jan Lokpal bill. The 10-member team that began its march on Wednesday, had its first halt at Mahatma Gandhi Dr HR Hardikar Ashram near JP Park. “On the way, principals of two colleges arranged sessions for us. We spoke to the gathering and moved on after taking snacks offered by employees of Jindal Nature Cure Centre,” said Ramesh.They arrived in Dobbespet the next morning to the warm welcome of people who stood on the roadside in groups. “We spoke to them about the purpose of our mission and asked them about their problems so that we could convey them to Delhi. People have been supporting us amazingly,” he added.In Dobbespet, the padayatris did not face any problems with regard to food or lodging. Supporters vied with one another to offer them meal and shelter to stay overnight. The team covered six villages of Dobbespet on Thursday.Ashwatha Narayana, 72, from Chikkaballapur and Gajanana Shashtri, 64, from JP Nagar, who happily joined the marchers look cheerful. They proved that age could not wither one’s spirit.“On Thursday, we walked more than 40 km. It was raining heavily too. Narayana took rest for a while in the car carrying medicines and baggage of marchers.
