Congress pushes for SM Krishna’s return to end Bangalore’s mess

With the international media making Bangalore’s garbage mess a global issue, KPCC President G Parameshwara has intensified his cry for SM Krishna to take up the leadership of the state Congress and restore Bangalore’s glory.

He was speaking on the occasion of the Lekka Kodi (give us accounts) agitation launched by the Congress across the state demanding the BJP government to present the details of utilisation of funds provided by the centre under various schemes.
Parameshwara said when Krishna was chief minister, Bangalore was seen as the knowledge capital, Silicon Valley of India, and IT-BT city.

“Look what the BJP government has done to this city. New York Times and BBC now call it a garbage city. The shameless chief minister Jagadish Shettar is mired in his political calculations. At this juncture, a leader like Krishna should lead the Congress to bring the party to power again and regain the glory of Bangalore,” Parameshwara stated.

Parameshwara said the agitation has been launched to convey the message to masses that the union government had released a whopping Rs88,000 crore for the state in the last four years for implementation of various projects. The state government had misused most of this.

“For 2011-12, the money released was Rs2,446 crore and the state government had spent only Rs800 crore. How will they spend the rest of the amount in the next three months of the financial year?” he asked.

He demanded that the ruling BJP should show the political will to take action against those involved in the Rs20,000 crore BBMP fake bills scandal. “BJP men take shelter by claiming Congress leaders are also involved in the scandal. I want them to come out with the names and I will take action. Are they ready?” he asked.
Parameshwara alleged that the garbage crisis has been created by the mafia.

“I am informed that the ruling BJP leaders have swindled `800 crore in managing garbage in the city. If they are not capable of handling the garbage issue, let them step down and appoint an administrator,” he demanded.

Bangalore city Congress unit president Dinesh Gundu Rao reiterated that the governance of Bangalore was at its best when Krishna was the chief minister. “We will bring back that glory by winning next assembly polls under the guidance of Krishna,” he said.

He accused the ministers from Bangalore of total failure in discharging their duties. “There are five ministers based in Bangalore—S Suresh Kumar, Aravind Limbavali, Shobha Karandlaje, R Ashoka and V Somanna. No one wants to resolve this problem,” he said.

Former minister HM Revanna said not even 30% of the central funds was utilised by the ruling BJP. Former ministers Rani Satish and RV Devaraj and  legislators NL Narendra Babu and Sudarshan were also present on the occasion.
