Karnataka's financial position this year was better than last fiscal despite the impact of global recession, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa said today.
Replying to the discussion on motion of thanks to the governor's address to the joint sitting of the House, he said revenue collection had slowed down in the first three months of the current fiscal, but there has been improvement thereafter following strict measures taken by the government.
He said the government would purchase 1,000 mw of power this month in view of the shortage, and buy another 1,000 mw for the months of April and May.
Barring stray incidents, peaceful situation was prevailing in the State, Yeddyurappa said.
The chief minister said, Bangalore needs a local train, adding, he would meet the railway minister Mamata Banerjee during his visit to New Delhi in the next three-four days.
Leader of the opposition, Siddaramaiah (Congress), said the opposition was not satisfied with government's reply, and led their walk-out from the House.
