Peenya police arrested three persons for abducting and killing an employee, who was carrying Rs2.6 lakh belonging to Delhi-Punjab Roadlines Transport company.
The arrested have been identified as HG Rasika alias Nithin, 23, HG Rakesh alias Raki, 21, both residents of Chennanayakanapalya and natives of Hosakote village in Hassan district, and Chandrasekhar alias Chandra, 22, resident of Sunkadakatte and native of Guddayanapalya village in Tumkur district. One more person involved in the case, identified as Jitendra, is absconding.
The three were arrested on Sunday while travelling in a car near Kunigal Circle in Nelamangala around 5.30 pm. They confessed to killing Chethan, 18, a resident of Doddabidarakallu and native of Mandya, on July 11.
The trio was sacked from the transport company, situated on SRS Road in Peenya and owned by one Venkatachalaiah, for misusing the firm's money. The gang strangled Chethan to death using a cable wire and fled with ¤2.6 lakh cash which was with the victim. Chethan, the firm's employee, first withdrew ¤2.5 lakh from Yeshwantpur branch of Syndicate Bank situated at Bazar Circle.He was then supposed to deposit ¤10,000 at Goraguntepalya branch of SBM.The four-member gang, which knew that Chethan would withdraw money from the bank, kidnapped him as soon as he came out of Syndicate Bank around 12.30 pm on July 11. After killing Chethan, the gang took the body to Tadakallu village of Yalasuru hobli in Hassan district and cremated the body in a coffee estate.Since Chethan did not return to office, the firm's accountant Dharmaraju tried calling the teenager's cellphone. As there was no response, he enquired with the bank from where it was confirmed that money had already been withdrawn. Venkatachalaiah then filed a complaint with Peenya police.The arrested were produced in the court. Further investigation is on.Chethan
