The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) recently played host to a group of 35 schoolchildren from remote villages of southern Kashmir under an initiative Sangam Tour.
The tour, part of Sadbhavanaa programme, is being conducted by Victor Force under the aegis of 15 Corps of the Army. It provides students and young people insights into opportunities available to them, along with a glimpse of India’s unity and diversity.
Prof Pankaj Chandra, director, IIMB, interacted with the students and briefed them about the premier B-school. He hoped that their visit to the IIMB campus would inspire them to study well and make it to IITs and IIMs.
CV Indu Shekhar Vassist, chief administrative officer, IIMB, said, “We have been consciously working towards making the institute more proactively involved in the process of nation-building and community development.”
Major Mahesh Arjyal of the Victor Force said, “The visit visibly triggered off in the minds of the bright, but under exposed kids from the Valley. With this kind of exposure, the future of J&K definitely seems brighter.”
