The winner of the DO Network competition was announced in the city on Tuesday, with Indian Engineered, a project led by Krishna Raj SR, winning the battle of innovations.

The Lenovo DO Network competition had people across the country pitching in with their best entrepreneurial ideas.

Indian Engineered won the competition having battled it out against nine other finalists and received a cash prize of $25,000. The project revolves around empowering engineering students through online tutorials and sponsorships.

“This has been very successful for us. We received 1,200 project ideas in a span of 90 days and we chose 10 projects from that. We received 1.5 million views on the website for the competition,” said Amar Babu RK, managing director, Lenovo India.

The competition that kicked off in December was judged by eight mentors including Rajan Anandan (managing director, Google India) and Rajiv Makhni (managing editor, Technology at NDTV, India).

“The whole point of the competition was to form a network between people and the industry. The other nine finalists also have great ideas. Some of the major themes that emerged during the competition had to do with tackling traffic, addressing power shortage and promoting education,” added Babu.

“The over-whelming response that Do Network received reinforces the fact that each of us nurtures an idea of a better India and Do Network is an initiative that provides an opportunity to enable the youth to be the agents of change through the use of technology,” said Babu.

As for the future, Babu said the next round of the competition will have people moving decidedly towards art.

“If the theme of this round was engineering, the next one will be all about expression. How people are able to express through videos and films and art,” he said adding that Lenovo is still “evaluating” the possibility of yet another round of the competition.
