It’s a season of ailments for Karnataka’s politicos and godmen. Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has been in and out of hospital in the past week and former CM HD Kumaraswamy skipped court on Tuesday on health grounds. Add Swami Nithyananda to that list.
He was admitted to Narayana Hrudayalaya on Tuesday, with complaints of a cardiac problem. Hospital sources revealed that he had been admitted into a room in the hospital’s fourth floor and was undergoing medical investigations.
However, Narayana Hrudayalaya’s senior cardiologist Dr Thimmappa Hegde said: “Nithyananda swamiji visited the hospital this afternoon to pay a visit to someone admitted in the in-patient department. He neither came for any health consultation nor is he admitted.”
Nithyananda’s ashram, too, toed the same line. In a statement, it said some TV channels have been allegedly broadcasting false news about Nithyananda’s illness and his subsequent hospitalisation in Narayana Hrudayalaya.
“This is to clarify that Paramahamsa Nithyananda visited Narayana Hrudayalaya briefly this morning in order to heal an ailing devotee, and left soon after,” said the statement.
