The Karnataka high court on Thursday directed the sacked non-teaching staff of Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) and Mysore Medical College (MMC) to treat their notice of termination as the show-cause notice.
Justice Ram Mohan Reddy asked the petitioners (dismissed employees) to file their objections within the stipulated time. The candidates’ future should be decided by the government, observed Reddy.
The high court on October 6 had reserved the case for judgment.
Vedavathy and 40 others of HIMS, and D Mohan Kumar and 90 others of MMC had filed the petitions. In their petitions, they had challenged the August 26 state government order to cancel their appointments.
The petitioners contended that in September 2006, their posts were sanctioned and in 2007, they were called for interviews by the institutes.
The petitioners’ appointments were confirmed in the academic year 2010-11. They also contended that the state government had not given them notices to cancel the appointments and said that they were not asked to file objections before issuing the notice.
