A complaint was filed in the Lokayukta special court on Monday against JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, alleging irregularities in denotification of land during his tenure as chief minister.

Kumaraswamy is the second former CM to face allegations of irregularities in land denotification, apart from BS Yeddyurappa.
The complainant, Mahadevaswami, in his complaint has accused Kumaraswamy of denotifying 3.8 acres in Thanisandra village.

The land had been acquired for formation of a residential layout by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in the Arkavathy Layout.

Former minister C Chennigappa has also been named in the complaint, alleging his involvement in getting the land denotified. The petitioner alleged that Kumaraswamy ordered denotification of the land in October 2007, a few days before the JD(S)-BJP coalition government collapsed following withdrawal of support by the BJP.

Mahadevaswami alleged that Kumaraswamy and Chennigappa colluded with the landowners. Mahadevaswami said he could not ascertain the monetary benefits of the deal, but requested the court to direct the Lokayukta police to investigate.

Others facing land scam allegations and fighting legal battles are housing minister V Somanna, industries minister Murugesh Nirani, former minister SN Krishnaiah Setty and BJP MLAs CT Ravi and Nehru Olekar.
