If you have lost your second year pre university college marks card, and it is posing a problem for admission to degree courses or getting a job, don’t worry; you can get it in a jiffy now.

You can get a duplicate marks card within a day through a just-introduced tatkal scheme. But it is a much costlier affair with the fees fixed at Rs5,000 against the earlier Rs300, which took a month.

All you need to do is file a complaint with the local police station informing that you have lost your PU-II marks card and get an acknowledgement.

Then the details like year of passing PU-II, certification from the principal of the college and an affidavit should be provided along with an application seeking a duplicate marks card to director/commissioner of PUE department with the prescribed fee. And you will get the duplicate marks card within a day.

“This scheme had been introduced recently mainly to help those who need the marks cards immediately. Through tatkal scheme people can apply in the morning and get duplicate marks card on the same day evening,” D Karunagaran, joint director, PUE (examinations), told DNA.

“Though the fee prescribed for tatkal scheme is much higher, it prevents unnecessary applications which create pressure on us. Earlier, with the normal fee of Rs300 we used to get at least 30 to 40 applications requesting for duplicate marks cards every day. Now that number has been reduced to just one or two genuine cases a day,” he said.

The new tatkal scheme is expected to encourage genuine marks cards-seekers to apply this way to reduce the pressure on the huge backlog of applications for duplicate marks cards which dates back to 1972.
