A Sandalwood hero was arrested by Peenya police for harassing his separated wife and assaulting the watchman and his two children.
Arjun alias Mental Manja, 39, married Latha Sri 11 years ago and the couple had two children.
They had frequent quarrels couple over the past five years and the two separated three months ago, police said. On Tuesday night, Arjun arrived in front of Latha’s house in Bagalagunte along with his brother Sampath Kumar and a friend Kumar at 7.30 pm.
All of them were drunk and Arjun started calling out Latha. When she refused to come out to receive them, the watchman Chandrappa asked them to leave the place at once.
Arjun turned his ire on the watchman and started abusing and assaulting him. When Chandrappa’s children came to his rescue, Arjun, Sampath and Kumar beat up the children too.
When neighbours, hearing the commotion, gathered near the house, the trio warned them to stay back and not to interfere with a domestic problem.
The neighbours did not intervene but informed the police, who took the trio in custody. When Latha went to the station late at night, the police tried to persuade the couple to live together.
But Arjun was not ready to listen. Finally, Latha filed a complaint and the three men were but behind bars in the wee hours of Wednesday. Latha told police that Arjun was harassing her to get money from her parents.
Arjun has acted in the Kannada movies Mental Manja, Moorane Class Manja and B Com Bhagya.
