MK Shankarlinge Gowda was appointed the new commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Monday. Taking charge as the new chief, he said that the BBMP is not a new arena to him, as he had worked there as a deputy commissioner some 20 years ago, when it was called the Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BMP). “Law minister S Suresh Kumar and housing minister Somanna used to be corporators at the time,” he said.
On the challenges in the new responsibility, he said: “There will be new issues every day. But, it is not the end of the road. There is a solution to every problem.”
He said that one has to look at the bigger picture and larger interests while making decisions, even though it may give rise to controversies. “We have to find solutions to bring normalcy in the BBMP. We have to work towards raising resources to match the demand,” Gowda said.
Gowda said that he will try to resolve the problems by talking to the elected representatives. “I have the habit of not wasting my precious time on controversies. I will try to bring transparency in the system and improve the administration,” he said.
