A weekend party on a terrace with a friend turned fatal for a 25-year-old woman who fell from a ladder while coming down. Moksha Nanaiah, a native of Coorg, and working as analyst in a multi-national company, was partying with a friend Kalappa at his third floor quarters in Madiwala on Saturday night.
Kalappa’s roommate Nitin was out of station and the two had a couple of drinks. Later, they went to the terrace where they had more. While trying to climb down the weak ladder from the terrace to the third floor, Moksha slipped and fell to her death.
Residents of the quarters rushed to the spot after Kalappa raised an alarm and shifted the body to a hospital. But Moksha was already dead.
Madiwala police seized the liquor bottles the couple left behind. They took the statements of Kalappa and a few residents.
Preliminary investigations ruled out any foul play. There was no evidence indicating that Moksha was sexually assaulted. The body was sent for postmortem and the blood and viscera will be sent for analysis at the forensic science laboratory to ascertain the cause of death, Madiwala police inspector MK Ganapthi said.
