A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and killing a 7-year-old girl more than five months after committing the crime.
The accused has been identified as Anil Kumar, 29, a resident of Mirle village in KR Nagar taluk in Mysore district. The Sampigehalli police arrested Anil on October 12.
The girl was missing from her residence in Mirle village in KR Nagar taluk in Mysore district on April 30. Her parents filed a complaint with the police stating that the girl was kidnapped by an unknown person and taken to Bangalore. A complaint was also submitted to the commissioner of police, Bangalore.
Anil kidnapped the girl when was playing with her brother in front of her house. Anil told the girl’s brother to get some medicine and kidnapped the girl.
Investigation revealed that he took the girl to a nearby farmland and threatened her. When the girl screamed for help, Anil took her to a sugarcane field and raped her. He later strangulated the girl and dumped the body in the field, the police said.
After three months, Anil collected the bones and threw it in the nearest river. He had also taken the gold earrings, silver chain from the girl.
