Late S Bangarappa's sons--Kumar and Madhu--have taken their family feud to the streets, with the followers of each resorting to violence, leading to ugly scenes at the cremation site on Tuesday.
Although the brothers did not come face-to-face with each other, their followers cashed in on the occasion to show their ‘loyalty’ towards their masters. Kumar's followers alleged that Madhu prevented him from having the last glimpse of his father’s body and taking part in the last rites.
Madhu's followers alleged that Kumar’s followers insulted Madhu.
Owing to the feud, Kumar vanished during the cremation but reappeared on Wednesday morning at the cremation site, where the family gathered to conduct rituals. As per customs, Kumar, being the elder son, tonsured his head.
When he sought to enter the family estate registered in Madhu's name, the latter’s followers tried to stop him. However, Kumar had come with police protection and later entered the site and paid his respects.
Kumar’s and Madhu’s brother-in-law had earlier tried to convince both of them to pay their respects together, but the brothers ignored their advice.
Sources close to the Bangarappa family said the followers of Kumar and Madhu were meddling with the affairs and aggravating the situation.
