A group of organisations under the banner of the Kannada Okkuta staged a protest and tried to lay siege to the chief minister’s official resident Krishna on Kumara Krupa Road on Monday.

Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, along with Dr Rajkumar Fans Association’s president Sara Govind, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike’s Praveen Shetty, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi leader N Murthy and Kannada Sene’s KR Kumar along with their activists blocked the way to the CM’s residence in the morning. The protesters went with beddings and vessels and lied down on the road during the protest.

The police tried to stop the protesters, but when they saw the situation going out of their hands, they took the leaders into custody.

“Let the police arrest and stop us from protesting, we will not step back from fighting for our right of Cauvery,” Nagaraj said.
The protesters were released in the evening.

The city witnessed many protests related to the Cauvery issue. The Chamundeshwari Kannada Yuvakara Vrundha under the leadership of ML Narendra Babu held a protest in Mahalakshmi Layout. The Akila Karnataka Om Shakthi took out a procession from Magadi Road to Freedom Park and protested there for more more than an hour.

In Moodalpalya, JD(S) party workers also took out a procession. Rashtriya Kissan Organisation members gathered in front of the Town Hall and staged a protest. The protesters said that they were ready to shed blood for Cauvery water.
