Two bogies of a goods train were damaged and three others derailed after it was hit by a rail engine near the rail yard in Whitefield railway station on Friday.
No injuries were reported in the accident, according to railway police.
The incident occurred around 4.10 am when the goods train loaded with cement was waiting to enter the yard. The train was instructed to stay put before the yard as another goods train was unloading its items there.
An engine, which had left Whitefield railway station and was on its way towards KR Puram railway station, hit the stationary goods train.
Railway police rushed to the spot and the track was cleared by noon. S Mani, divisional railway manager, South-Western Railway said that rail movement was not affected as the derailment occurred in the yard.
The goods train had arrived at Whitefield railway station from Yerraguntla in Andhra Pradesh.
