Security around Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) has been tightened in view of Independence Day.
The central intelligence bureau cautioned city police of a possible terror attack at BIA, following which city police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji issued instructions to all the police stations.
Two check-posts have been formed near Trumpet Interchange and Devanahalli.
All vehicles moving towards the airport are being checked. A platoon of the Karnataka State Reserve Police has been deployed near the airport. Police personnel have also been deployed near eateries and shops near the airport.
Apart from increased night patrolling on Sunday, police were also collecting details of check-ins to hotels and lodges in the city. They have also decided to check vehicles which move in a suspicious fashion. Security has also been tightened for Independence Day celebrations to be held at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground.
