The director of the primary education department has issued circulars to all deputy directors of public instruction directing them to conduct compulsory learning camps on RTI for school children.

It’s time now for primary school students to take lessons in Right to Information Act.

The director of the primary education department has issued circulars to all deputy directors of public instruction (DDPIs) directing them to conduct compulsory learning camps on RTI for school children.

“We have sent circulars to all DDPIs asking them to take necessary action in this regard and they will communicate the same to the schools concerned,” said an official from the department who did not want to be named.

The action was taken following the state government’s instruction to the education department to take necessary steps to popularise the law.

According to an official in the department, the school authorities could avail the help of local RTI activists to organise the camps.

“It is our duty to make the future generation aware of the law. The DDPIs will visit the schools to check if they are conducting the learning camps,” the official added.

The officials have been asked to provide the information asked through RTI as early as possible.
