Just a day after taking charge once again as the state medical education minister, SA Ramdas made a surprise visit to the Ayush College and Hospital in Anand Rao Circle on Tuesday.
The minister was shocked to see wine stores running adjacent to the hospital. “I have warned the wine store authorities. I will write to the excise minister to shift the store or cancel its licence,” said Ramdas.
Like other government hospitals, here too Ramdas found many irregular employees.
“There were about 70 employees who did not come to work on time and I have asked the officials concerned to issue notices to them seeking explanation,” he said.
“I saw many acts of indiscipline in the hospital-cum-college and have formed a one-man commission to conduct an inquiry and submit the report within a week,” said Ramdas. The committee is headed by Dr Venkatesh.
The instruments in the Physiotherapy department of the college were found to be not utilised properly. The minister asked the authorities to issue notices in this regard.
The security and housekeeping tender of the college given to a private company was cancelled. It was directed to allot the responsibility to Home Guards.
