Film buffs will curse themselves if they miss the Dussehra film festival in Mysore , which is considered to be the best ever in recent years.
The seven-day film festival that began here in three cinema halls— Lido, Lakshmi and Gokul—will screen some of the best commercial Kannada films. It will be a judicious mix of old and new films.
The oldest movie of the lot is Rajkumar’s Satya Harishchandra, which will be screened at Lido on Saturday at 1.30pm. Other hits of the matinee idol that will be shown include Jeevana Chaitra, Kasturi Nivasa, Bhakta Kanakadasa, Hrudayavantha, Shankar Guru, Gandhada Gudi, Shabdavedi, Bhakta Kumbara, Bangarada Manushya and Sakshatkara (also starring Prithviraj Kapoor).
“Whoever has put together the film list should be congratulated as there are very good films on the list. They have taken care to include every kind of film that would endear every filmgoer. There is melodrama, tragedy, comedy, action, love story, musicals and films with a message” said Chidambar Raj, who has come from Bangalore just to see three films—Kasturi Nivasa, Gandhadha Gudi and Bhakta Kumbhara.
“These were the films I missed in Bangalore when they were released long time back,” he said with a grin.
