The organised crime wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two thieves who targeted factories in the city.

The organised crime wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two thieves  who targeted factories in the city. The arrested were Manjunatha, 31, of Electronic City, and Sumith, 28, of Hebbagodi. The two were arrested when they were trying to sell gold potassium cyanide (GPC) to a customer near a hotel in Rayon Circle, Chamarajpet.

Police seized seven plastic bags filled with 1.07kg of GPC and four mobile phones worth Rs21 lakh from them. The two were working in a factory. Majunath was with its quality section while Sumith was working in the chemist wing.

Three days ago, they stole the GPC which is used in electroplating. They stole the liquid metal as it contained 68 per cent gold. The said they took to crime to lead a lavish life.
2 held for murder of auto driver

Two people were arrested for the murder of an autorickshaw driver in Gangondanahalli. Syed Mujamil alias Muju, 24, and Shabeer Pasha alias Shabi, 28, murdered driver Babu Abdul Zuban (38), a resident of Padarayanapura, off Mysore Road on November 22. Babu’s body was found in the autorickshaw by passersby the next day.

According to the police, the murder took place  over a petty issue. For long, Syed,who too was an autorickshaw driver, had a grudge against Babu over a  trivial issue. On the night of November 22, Syed and Shabeer stabbed Babu near Vidyasagar New Horizon School in Gangondanahalli.

Biker killed in head-on crash

A 32-year-old driver returning home on his two-wheeler was killed when a speeding tempo van collided with his vehicle near Domlur on Monday night. MN Raghunandha had no time to avoid the crash as the van sped towards him from the wrong end of the road.

“The driver of the tempo wrongly entered a one way and he was driving very fast. He has said to have been blinded by the headlights of the two-wheeler in front of him. He lost control and drove straight into the two wheeler,” a traffic police officer in Indiranagar said. Raghunandhan suffered serious head injuries and died on the way to a private hospital. The van driver has been arrested.

Driver’s body found in his parked car

A 55-year-old driver’s body was found in his car parked in a ground near Pushpanjali theatre in Garudacharpalya on Tuesday. Mahadevapura police suspect that Shankar, a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout, died around Sunday midnight.

The car door was locked from inside and the body bore no external injuries. The parked car drew the attention of people on Monday. They found a man sleeping in the driver’s seat. The next day, the car was still there . People grew suspicious and called the police. Police shifted the body to Bowring Hospital. A postmortem examination revealed that he died of cardiac arrest.
